Pokemon A/S - The Amourshipping Fanfic (ポケットモンスターエーエス - サトセレ物語 Pocket Monster A.S. - The Satosere Story) is a fanon Amourshipping based fanfic series written by Donald Nemesis, It was first announced in April 14, 2023 and Broadcasted from June 4, 2023 to Apr 6, 2025. It's the sequel of Pocket Monsters: Aim to Be a Pokémon Master, but largely deviates in canon anime, and serves to commemorate the 10th Anniversary of Pokémon the Series: XY.

The novel version of Pokemon A/S were begin at the same day as the first episode being broadcasted. However it was currently in hiatus since December 2023

Pokemon A/S casts aside many of the conventions set by Pokemon Anime and even most of the Amourshipping Fanfic, and takes many new steps for its franchise. Such as featuring the more serious and more darker story tone , the focus of the personal character growth, exploring the darker topic like loss, fighting against evil, and character death while reserves the traditional gym battle and Tournament Arc as sub plot.

Starting with the show's fourth arc, the show was advertised under the name Pokemon A/S: DeuX (Deux is French for "two") but were generally classify it as the same show, with the episode numbers continuing from where it was left off

Production

After Donald Nemesis become Amourshipper, he watched many of the Amourshipping fanfic. However, as the action themed show fanatic, Donald Nemesis was bored about how many Amourshipping fanfic barely features anything outside of romance (Despite he also watched some amourshipping fanfic that are actually good such as Epicocity's Ancienverse). Donald Nemesis then had the idea of "Instead of spent 99% of the time of just watching Ash and Serena kissing, why not make them work together to overcome difficulties?"

Before Donald Nemesis begin to write the fanfic, he posted some one shot as the experiment on the subreddit. He also released some photo about his fanfic and managed to makes people looking forwards to his future fanfic. Thus, Donald Nemesis decided to combine the amourshipping element into his . After 1-2 months of development, he finally released his first chapter in June 4 2023.

Most of those Pokemon league's rule dosen't really applies outside any Pokemon league

Certain settings of Pokemon A/S had used the Location scouting, where the author had Attached the image that he took on some of the plots (Wattpad version only)

Plot Summary

Taken place 1 years after Pokemon MPM (Aim To Be A Pokémon Master) Episode 11, A (Still) 10 years old Ash had a nightmare about the world crisis where even Arceus had struggles to stop it! Meanwhile, he received the invitation  letter of the Master Class Showcase Tournament which will makes him reunite with his girlfriend. But unknown to them is this reunite had changed this future couple's fate forever....

Several new elements are introduced in this season; The Pokemons can communicate with humans and integrated into the society, the concept of "Romance Phenemon", and the use of "Team Finisher" which allows trainer's pokemon to create their entirely unique Finisher with another trainer's pokemon instead of simply merge their charge move into one etc.

Pokemon A/S divides its focus between Ash, Serena, and other Ash's friends, granting each of Character Focus episodes that often revolve around their development and/or backstory. In addition of having Serena receives significant amount of focus, resulting Ash's often end up Out of Focus despite being protagonist.

The story aimed at deconstructing the fringe logic, fringe horror and the debatable events in anime, such as the truth about "Ash forever 10", Ash's lose to Alain in Kalos, and even deconstructing the amourshipping fic itself; massively uses the Take That! tropes towards the bad Pokemon Fanfic (e.g. demonizing Calem as antagonist in many of wattpad amourshipping fanfic, shipping war and Ash betrayal fic etc), and several "What if?" events.

English Dub

Because of the notoriously dark story tone and fanservice , the english dub version of Pokemon A/S, known as Pokemon: The final journey of Ash and Serena, had underwent infamous amount of Bowdlerization and censorship in order to comply the "PG13" standard in US. Several plots and story arc had been abridged and skipped the latter half of season 3, certain episode of season 4-5 and entire season 6, while the Team Rocket Arc from season 2 also being removed and being replaced with the Compilation Movie known as Pokemon the Movie: Giovanni's Ambition . Many death scenes, dialogue and fight sense had been removed or changed (e.g. several character's backstory had been removed), instead they've replaced with bunch of US-only episode. As the results, the total 96 episodes had been shortened into 63. The story tone of the dubbed version is much more closer to the romance story and seems kids friendly.

The reaction of this change is mixed, as many US audience had find that it's better than the original due to being lighter and softer

The unnamed Canadian voice acting group had published the International version . The episodes were aired in their proper order, and the scripts were kept much closer to the original Japanese version. However, it was divided into six seasons

Trivia

• Before writing the scripts, this fanfic was originally isn't intended to be Amourshipping fanfic, and Serena was originally only intended to be one of the recurring characters. However, Donald Nemesis had aware the overwhelming popularity of Amourshipping, he later was impressed after watched few episode of Pokemon XY and discovered how incredibly large of the Character Developments headroom she had even after the end of the series. Thus makes Donald Nemesis decided to make it Amourshipping fanfic and wrote her as Co-Protagonist, hence the name of "Pokemon A/S"
  • Pokemon A/S was originally meant for action based fanfic, but was later added the large amount of non-action scenes.
  • Before he begin to write the fanfic, he had posted some one shot as experiment on some subreddit, which will later become part of the story arc.
• Pokemon A/S is one of the very few Pokemon fanfic which aimed at the older audiences, particularly people who watched Pokemon XY when the show was new. Thus, Pokemon A/S had entirely pushed the boundaries of "For young kids" out the window. This explains why the show is so extremely edgy, even more edgier than the cringy betrayal fic.
• Despite being Amourshipping fanfic, the author possibility largely strives to focus on the crazy edgy plot and flashy action scene lmao.
• This is one of the only amourshipping fanfic features with Ash who still stuck at 10 years old, despite Donald Nemesis claimed that there'll be the story arc about why he's still 10 years old.
• Due to the fact that the author is Digimon fan, Pokemon A/S had took various of reference from Digimon (particularly Digimon Tamers). Such as the Pokemon talking with their Trainers, despite mewoth is still the only non legandary pokemon who can speak human language.
• The cover design and the logo design is heavily based on Makato Shinkai's movies and SSSS Gridman series, while the cover image was actually taken by himself.
• Donald Nemesis is also in charged for the design of series logo, the new pokemon form, character's new outfit and the covers
• English version of Pokemon A/S Opening and Ending are only english cover of the original Japanese version, and all of the BGM are completely unchanged. Thus their soundtrack are way more rock riffs and emotional than the typical english Pokemon Fanfic soundtracks
• Despite several Character had recieved the new caught in this fanfic, Ash and Serena are currently the only trainers who actually caught the Pokemon who aren't formerly taken care with.
• The significant darker and more mature tone in this series is due to this fanfic author Donald Nemesis's intention, which was to "I want to try something new for Ash and Serena's journey other than redoing the old stuff like gym battle and tourament arc again, especially Ash Ketchum is now the world champion"
