Trivia[]
Leaf's Zubat is the first Pokémon on her team with a distinct personality.
The personality is based off the author extrapolating how Zubat commonly appear in games and so figured they must want to be with the player a lot. This is translated into Zubat being overly affectionate.
Leaf's Zubat was originally going to debut in Johto as a shiny Pokémon.
This is because the author find a shiny Zubat one time.
