Crisis Across the Multiverse Spark of Mayhem

Hijacking at the High Seas! is the fifth episode of the third season of Pokémon Tales: Plasma. It aired 3/19/20. It is a crossover with The Legend of Spinarak-Man.

Story[]

Peter, Spinarak, Harry, Quilava, Hobie, Totodile, Lyra and Marill all travel by ship across the Whirl Islands. They have out their baby Pokémon Pichu, Magby and Togepi out which all enjoy the sea breeze blowing by.

Lyra: Oh that breeze feels so good! Wouldn’t you agree Togepi?

Togepi: Toge toge!

Pichu: Pichu!

Magby: (Apprehensive) Mag.

Harry: Magby doesn’t seem to agree.

Quilava: (Shakes head) Quil!

Hobie: Your Pokémon are Fire types, so they naturally don’t like water. As opposed to Totodile, who’s loving every minute of it.

Totodile: Dile!

Peter: I can’t wait to make it to the Whirl Islands! It is going to be so cool!

Spinarak: Spina!

Harry: You know what we need now? A nice Pokémon battle!

Lyra: That sounds like it’ll be fun!

Peter: I’m up for it! Let’s do it!

Peter and Harry position themselves in the clear space of the bow. Togepi is fascinated by a ship approaching on the horizon.

Harry: Magby, you ready for a battle?

Magby: Mag!

Peter: In that case, I choose you Pichu!

Pichu: Pichu!

Harry: Alright! Magby, use Ember!

Peter: Pichu, use Thunder Shock!

Magby breathes an Ember attack as Pichu blocks it with Thunder Shock. Pichu appears disoriented afterwards.

Peter: Pichu, you okay little guy?

Pichu: (Thumbs up) Pichu.

Hobie: Pichu are known for not having full control of their electricity yet. It could hurt itself.

Lyra: Come on Pichu! Fight and win!

Peter: Pichu, go for Thunder Shock again!

Harry: Dodge it this time and use Ember!

Magby dodges Thunder Shock as it spits out an Ember attack. Pichu is hit and stumbles back. The ship drastically leans to port, everyone losing their footing and falling. Peter catches himself and flips back to his feet.

Peter: What is going on?

The other ship from before is directly in front of their ship, forcing them to turn away to avoid a collision. The ships now sail side-by-side with each other as several pirates swing over from the other side. One of them floats over, wearing purple armor and an Oranguru using Psychic on him.

Wizard: Attention citizens! Meet the Frightful Four! Surrender your Pokémon and other valuables then we will be on our way!

Klaw, in a red suit, descends down from Perrserker’s Metal Sound. Trapster, in an exterminator style attire, rides Muk over. Thundra, a woman with a muscular build, jumps over with Kangaskhan. The patrons on the ship are terrified, as Klaw goes around collecting gems while Thundra stuffs Pokéballs into a bag. Wizard floats overhead. Peter and his friends hide behind a corner and survey the situation.

Hobie: Who are these guys? They don’t look like Team Rocket.

Harry: They seem like they’re pirates. Those who steal on the sea.

Lyra: We can’t let them get away with this! Let’s fight them!

Peter: Yeah, let’s (Spinarak-Sense tingles) Wait, look out!

Sludge circles and builds behind them, Muk rising. They all trip and fall over as Muk buries them. The Pokémon are all smothered as well.

Trapster: Thought you could escape our notice, kids? Yo Wizard! Search these brats!

Wizard and Oranguru float down as Oranguru waves its leaf fan. All the Pokémon and their Pokéballs all float into the air from Psychic, the Pokémon resisting.

Wizard: Must be league competitors. Why else would they have so many Pokémon? Your cooperation is appreciated.

Peter: Those are ours! Give them back!

Lyra: Togepi!

Togepi: Toge!

Wizard sorts through the Pokéballs and returns all of the Pokémon. Klaw and Thundra finish their gathering as they all disembark back to their ships. Peter is the first one up, running after them.

Peter: I said give them back!

The pirate ship begins veering away as Peter makes a leap for the ship.

Lyra: Peter!

Hobie: Look at that jump!

Harry: He may make it!

An invisible force hits Peter, feeling like two darts to the chest. He grunts as he begins to fall towards the open ocean. The pirates make it aboard the ship, paying no more heed to the other ship.

Lyra: Did he make it?!

Harry: I can’t tell! It’s like he disappeared!

Hobie: Now what do we do? We can’t let them take our Pokémon!

Harry: Well I’m going after them.

Lyra: What?! You’ll never make the jump! It’s already too far away!

Harry: I gotta try!

Harry backs up then takes off in a sprint. He leaps over the railing, soaring through the air. He glows with a blue aura as he continues to fly, rolling onto the stern deck. Some pirates look back to see what was going on, but Harry had rolled behind a crate.

Harry: (Panting) I actually made it?

Lyra: How’d he do that?

Hobie: We can’t just leave him alone! Come on!

Hobie and Lyra move back and make the leap as well. The two float as well and tumble onto the deck. The pirates go to check behind the crate when a noise occurs on the other end. The duo turn and run to check it.

Lyra: How was that possible?

Hobie: It must’ve been a Psychic move like that floating guy did. But where is there a Pokémon like that?

Peter: Aaaaggghhh!

Peter clings to the side of the ship, waves and water splatter drenching him as he climbs up the side.

Peter: (Exhausted) Never, (climbs up) have I ever (climbs up) been so thankful for these powers!

Peter passes a window on the lower deck, which opens up. Peter peeks inside, a Victini waiting.

Victini: (Motioning him in) Victini!

Peter climbs in the window and drops to the ground from exhaustion. Victini closes the window then goes down right beside Peter.

Peter: Ahh! So strenuous! I suppose I have you to thank for saving me. (Grabs chest) I feel like I got hit by a rock. What are you doing here?

Victini: Tin!

Victini takes off running, Peter groaning and following after it.

End Scene

The ship sails off into open waters, as the Frightful Four hand off their bags to other pirates which walk off. They report to Batroc, a mercenary wearing tactical gear.

Batroc: What’d we get away with this time?

Wizard: Several pieces of jewelry, cash, and an assortment of Pokémon. You were correct, there are constantly trainers on these ships through the Whirl Islands.

Batroc: How are our storages of Pokémon?

Wizard: We could easily go for more.

Batroc: Too risky. Change our flags so we can head to port.

Wizard: Aye.

One of the pirates takes some Pokéballs out of their bag and places it into another one. They drop a few Pokéballs, with Pichu, Magby and Togepi coming out and running off. The pirate begins to chase after them when they hear a sound around the corner. The pirate takes one of the bags and heads off, leaving the empty Pokéballs open. Harry, Hobie and Lyra round the corner, seeing the bag.

Lyra: Hey! That looks like the bag our Pokémon were in!

Hobie: Lyra, be realistic. Even if it is, there is no way that someone left those intentionally--

Lyra reaches in and opens a Pokéball, choosing Marill.

Marill: Marill!

Lyra: Ah! I was so worried!

Harry: You were saying, Hobie?

They all search through the bag, retaking their Pokéballs. They then look to the empty Pokéballs.

Harry: We’re missing Magby, Togepi, and all of Peter’s Pokémon.

Hobie: This third Pokéball must be one of Peter’s. They must be running around somewhere.

Lyra: Let’s find them! Marill, use your ears to track Togepi and the others!

Marill nods, listening. Marill then runs off, Lyra following.

Harry: Wait up!

Harry goes to run, Hobie stopping him.

Hobie: Hold on. We need to get help. We need to let Officer Jenny and the police know where we are! It’s not like we can get off the ship without help.

Harry: Oh, right.

Harry pulls out his PokeGear, trying to dial 911. There is no signal on the PokeGear.

Harry: No signal?

Hobie: We shouldn’t be that far out of Johto to lose signal. They may be jamming it. Let’s trust Lyra to find the babies. They could even avoid the other pirates.

Harry: In that case, we’re looking for the main deck. Get a signal out. Get people in the water for Peter.

In the holding cells below deck, Hilda shakes at the bars while Ian and Cheren sit on the floor.

Hilda: (Partially energetic) Let, us out.

Cheren: Hilda. Stop. We’ve been here too long for you to be this annoying.

Hilda: Cheren, we’d been caught like Pignites primed for slaughta’!

Cheren: Your fault.

Ian: Both of you, shut up.

Cheren: Thank you.

Hilda: Welp, if I keep shoutin’, someone will come’a running. Let us out!

The air vent bursts open as Victini climbs down.

Ian: Victini? Took you long enough.

Victini: (Pouts) Tin.

Hilda: Ian, that’s no way to treat y’all Pokémon!

Cheren: When we haven’t had food for so long what did you expect?

Peter: Agh!

Peter falls out of the vent, though gets back to his feet quickly.

Peter: Whew! Tight space there! Wasn’t sure I was going to make my way upward there.

Hilda: Huzzah! We’re saved!

Cheren: You have food?

Peter: Huh? Well, maybe some energy bars or something.

Cheren: That’ll do.

Victini uses Confusion to open the cell door, letting everyone free. Peter pulls out two energy bars and splits them to four pieces, everyone getting a part. They all devour their piece.

Peter: So, who are you guys and why are you in jail?

Cheren: It’s Hilda’s fault.

Hilda: Tis not! Here’s what happened.

The scene has a white outline for a flashback. Hilda leads the way for Ian, Victini and Cheren at the port to board their ship. They approach a ship which flies a white flag featuring an Ursaring lifting two crates.

Hilda: Here we are! Our ship to Virbank City! Come on come on!

Cheren: (Sighs) Hilda, slow down please. The ship won’t leave any faster with us on it.

Ian: You sure this is it? That’s the Mormont Shipping company flag.

Hilda: Tis docked right where it ‘posed to be! Now git a moove on!

Hilda leads the way onto the ship as they all are onboard. Pirates are loading cargo and they all look at the trio.

Hilda: Howdy y’all!

Cheren: Hilda, I think we should leave.

Cheren turns as Wizard and Oranguru float down, intercepting their path.

Batroc: Bonjour.

The group is surrounded by pirates, which part for Batroc to enter the ring.

Batroc: You seem to have stumbled onto the wrong ship. I am Batroc, the captain.

Ian: Why are pirates like you so blatantly docked in a port?

Batroc: Because we possess the flag to do so. I am well aware who you three are. Each of you performed in the Vertress Conference. I would love nothing more than to fight and defeat each of your Pokémon, but I am on contract and a tight schedule.

Cheren: If it’s a fight you want, it’s one you’ll--

Cheren’s hand reaches for a Pokéball as Batroc leaps forward, going onto his hands. He spins and kicks Cheren in the chest, him losing his breath and dropping to the ground.

Hilda: Cheren! You punk!

Batroc pushes off his hands and is airborne, kicking at Hilda’s face. She instinctively raises her arms to take it, though hits the floor hard. Batroc’s landing instantly takes him into a rolling kick that catches Ian in the side. He gasps but stays standing.

Victini: Vic!

Ian: No, flee!

Batroc charges and kicks again, Ian blocking it but being knocked over. Victini uses Confusion to open one of Ian’s Pokéballs, Zorua coming out.

Zorua: Zoru?

Victini: Tini!

Zorua is surrounded in a crimson aura, howling to the sky. She releases a pink and crimson force field of energy from her body, Batroc forced to leap away. When the attack fades, Victini and Zorua are gone.

Batroc: Track those Pokémon down! Prepare to set sail! Secure the prisoners in the brig.

Wizard: Why not throw them overboard?

Batroc: Cause they will come back with a vengeance. Lock them up.

Cheren: So again, Hilda’s fault.

Hilda: Dat ship was in da wron’ spot!

Ian: Victini, how’s the other part of the plan going?

Victini: Tin.

Cheren: Wait, there’s more?

The door opens, a pirate walking in. Everyone is tense as the pirate snickers. Ian can’t help but laugh.

Ian: Liking the pirate look, Zorua?

The pirate’s Illusion breaks, Zorua dragging the bag over to everyone. Ian reaches in and takes his Pokéballs.

Ian: Now we can take the ship.

Cheren: (Takes Pokéballs) This was your plan all along, wasn’t it? Long enough is right.

Peter: Hey! Even mine are in here.

Hilda: Ooh! So happy to be reunited wit my Pokémon!

Peter: Hold on, I’m missing one! Where’s Pichu?

Zorua: Zo zo.

Ian: She’ll lead the way. Cheren, get to the helm and take control of this thing. Hilda, you raise chaos. Raid the kitchen while you’re at it.

Hilda: Will do!

Cheren: What about you?

Ian: I’ll help Peter find his Pokémon, then we’re going after the captain. Move.

Cheren: I’m going, I’m going. Too hungry for this.

They all exit the room and head off, Cheren and Hilda one way while Peter and Ian go the other. Peter opens a Pokéball as Spinarak rides his shoulder. Victini rides Ian’s while Zorua runs ahead.

Peter: Okay, why are you familiar? And how did you know my name?

Ian: Your powers aren’t telling you?

Peter: You know, yeah. I’ve had a sharp tingling that we’ve met.

Ian: In the dream world. This is our first official meeting. I’m Ian.

Peter: Peter Parker. Though I suppose you’re more familiar with Spinarak-Man.

Ian: I’ve met both.

Zorua: Zo!

Zorua interacts with Pichu, which playfully nuzzles up to her. Pichu then sees Peter, running over to him.

Pichu: Pichu pi!

Peter: Pichu! You’re okay! I’d put you away but I don’t have your Pokéball.

Ian: No worries. We could use its help.

Peter: Huh?

Ian: The captain of the ship, Batroc. He doesn’t just leave fighting to his Pokémon. He’s skilled in martial arts. If we’re to match him, we need someone with more strength than the average man.

Peter: You want Spinarak-Man?

Ian: While you’re doing that, Zorua can transform into you and create another diversion.

Zorua: Zo-zo!

Zorua leaps and creates the Illusion of Peter, matching him perfectly. Pichu becomes confused which is which, until Zorua Peter smirks.

Ian: Pick another Pokémon to help them out. They can handle the pirates and help clear our path to Batroc.

Peter: But the other pirates are strong too!

Ian: That’s why I have strong friends. And I’m not the only one. You wonder where Pichu’s Pokéball ended up?

Peter: You mean--

Ian: Let’s take the ship. For all our friends’ sake.

End Scene

Lyra and Marill run through the halls of the ship, Lyra looking around.

Lyra: I feel like we’ve been here before! You sure you hear Togepi there Marill?

Marill: Marill! Mar?

Marill comes to a dead stop, Lyra stopping with it. The hall wall shatters in front of them as Ginger the Durant busts through with Giga Impact. Hilda jumps through the hole, looking back through the series of holes with pirates following after her. The pirates have Corphish, Poliwhirl, Diggersby and Alolan Raticate.

Hilda: Whoo-wee! Rounded ‘em all up dere! Ginger, let’s get’em with Guillotine!

Ginger forms large energy fangs over its pinchers as it bites into all the foes. They all fall defeated. The pirates return their Pokémon and flee.

Hilda: And don’t y’all come back!

Lyra: Oh wow!

Hilda: Huh? Oh howdy! Didn’t see y’all there!

Lyra: Good thing Marill heard you then! I’m Lyra. Have you seen my Togepi?

Hilda: Name’s Hilda! No, don’t reckon I’ve seen one. I’ll help y’all look for it.

Lyra: Oh thank you!

Hilda: First stop is the kitchen! I’m starving as a Snorlax!

Hilda and Lyra head down the hall, Marill leading the way.

Hilda: So what’ya doing here?

Lyra: My friends and I had our Pokémon stolen and now we got them back! But now we need to get back to the Whirl Islands!

Hilda: Whoa, dat’s mighty far! Nowhere near home for me!

Marill leads them into the kitchen, with Togepi having climbed up onto the counter. It wanders aimlessly as it prepares to walk off the edge. Lyra lunges and grabs it, hugging it tight.

Lyra: Togepi! I’m so glad you’re alright!

Hilda heads into the fridge, stuffing her face with some meat and cheese. She then grabs a basket on the counter and stuffs it.

Lyra: What’s that food for?

Hilda: (Muffled words)

Lyra: Are they for your friends?

Hilda: (Swallows) Yep! Now let’s get it movin’!

A wall busts down as Kangaskhan and Thundra come through.

Thundra: Found you! The one who tore through the walls as if they were nothing! I challenge you!

Hilda: Yee-haw! Let’s rumble!

Lyra: What about your friends?

Hilda: Dey can get’alon witout me for a bit! Ginger, use Iron Head!

Thundra: Kangaskhan! Fire Punch!

Ginger charges with Iron Head as Kangaskhan strikes with Fire Punch, defeating it.

Thundra: Weak! I expected more! Kangaskhan, take her out!

Kangaskhan charges at Hilda when a Water Gun hits her on the side of the face. Kangaskhan rubs the spot and looks to Lyra and Marill. A Pokéball opens and chooses Emboar, it staring Kangaskhan down.

Hilda: Dat was jus’a warmup! Now we revin’!

Harry’s Quilava breathes Ember as Hobie’s Totodile spews Water Gun, keeping away the pirates’ Crabrawler, Gumshoos, Pawniard and Sneasel. They keep coming as they round a corner.

Harry: These guys are persistent! We should fight them head-on!

Hobie: We need to find your Magby first!

Harry: Which is easier if we don’t have these guys on our backs!

Hobie: Fine! One good attack!

Harry: Yeah!

Harry pivots and points.

Harry: Flame Wheel!

Quilava curls up and rolls in a Flame Wheel, blasting through the Pokémon. Crabrawler gets back up and strikes Quilava with Crabhammer, knocking it back.

Hobie: Totodile, Bite!

Totodile leaps and Bites into Crabrawler’s pincer, though it prepares another attack. Accelgor Body Slams Crabrawler from behind, allowing Totodile time to let go and fly back.

Hobie: Now Water Gun!

Totodile strikes Crabrawler with Water Gun, defeating it. The pirates return their Pokémon and flee, running past Cheren carrying Magby.

Cheren: Here I thought I’d be in for more of a fight. (Stomach grumbles) Not complaining.

Harry: Magby!

Magby: Mag!

Magby leaps out of Cheren’s arms and runs back to Harry.

Cheren: Good. I was wondering who this belonged to.

Hobie: You a stowaway too?

Cheren: More like an escaped prisoner. Name’s Cheren.

Hobie: I’m Hobie and this is Harry.

Harry: We’re heading to the bridge to take the helm and end the signal jammer for help.

Cheren: I’m on my way there as well. You look as if you can handle yourselves enough.

Hobie: Then let’s team up and go!

Harry and Hobie take off, as Cheren lags a bit behind.

Cheren: Always a rush.

The group make it up the stairs, with the bridge doorway visible. Harry and Hobie are first when Muk rises from under them and fling them across the room. Trapster and Klaw come out of hiding.

Klaw: Heh-heh! There’s nothing more exhilarating than when the prize comes to you!

Trapster: Just trap them and make sure they can’t get free.

Cheren: You’re not too good at that.

Cheren holds onto Accelgor which speeds through the open area and makes it through the doorway to the bridge. Once inside they are blasted by electrified psychic energy, defeating Accelgor. Cheren drops as Wizard stands at the controls with Oranguru.

Wizard: Not a bad display. You certainly earned your title. But this is where that acclaim ends.

Harry: Quilava and Magby, Ember go!

Trapster: Muk, Sludge Bomb!

Quilava and Magby spew Ember which Muk repels with Sludge Bomb. Both Pokémon are hit and Magby is knocked out.

Harry: Dang it! We need something big! Pineco, go!

Harry throws his Pokéball and chooses Pineco.

Pineco: Pine!

Harry: Go for Tackle! Quilava, Flame Wheel!

Trapster: Muk hit Quilava with Mean Look!

Muk fires a piece of sludge from its body with an eye pattern on it, it hitting Quilava and sticking to it. Quilava tries to break free but is unable to. Pineco goes and Tackles Muk, getting caught in its slime body.

Harry: Now Pineco! Self-Destruct!

Trapster: Oh no you don’t! Muk use Acid Armor!

Pineco glows white as Muk forms around it to contain it. Muk’s body expands from the force of Self-Destruct then recedes. Muk comes off and knocks a defeated Pineco back.

Trapster: That all you’ve got?

Harry: Dang it! Hobie, how are you doing over there?!

Hobie: Not well!

Totodile spews Water Gun as Perrsserker scrapes its claws to let out a focused Metal Sound. Metal Sound disrupts Water Gun and hits Totodile.

Hobie: Totodile use Bite!

Klaw: Rush it with Iron Head!

Totodile Bites as Perrserker rams it with Iron Head. Totodile tumbles back defeated. Hobie returns it and throws a new Pokéball, choosing Houndour.

Houndour: Houn!

Hobie: You’re using all Steel type attacks, which must mean that’s a Steel type and weak to fire! Houndour use Ember!

Houndour breathes Ember, searing Perrserker.

Klaw: Bit cocky, aren’t we? Here’s something to brag about! Perrserker, use Metal Burst!

Perrserker scrapes its claws, firing a powerful Metal Burst. Houndour is blasted back, Hobie looking concerned.

Hobie: Okay, what now?

Ian, Spinarak-Man and Zorua Peter come out onto the main deck. Spinarak is on Spinarak-Man’s shoulders while Pichu and Victini stay close to Zorua Peter. They spot more pirates, the group nodding.

Spinarak-Man: Be careful Pichu.

Pichu: (Proud) Pichu!

Zorua Peter runs out and points forward, Pichu sparking and firing Thunder Shock. The pirates are zapped and focus their attention on them. Zorua Peter and Pichu take off in a run as they follow. Victini slips behind some crates and trails behind. Ian and Spinarak-Man head out to the open bow.

Ian: Anything?

Spinarak-Man: Not yet. But if we’re heading to the captain’s quarters then we should (Spinarak-Sense tingles) No, yeah. He’s here.

The two turn as they see Batroc cracking his knuckles as he approaches.

Batroc: Surprised you have the strength to move after a week in captivity. Who’s your costumed friend?

Spinarak-Man: Someone who actually has a sense of style! You look like you buy your clothes from the discount aisle!

Batroc: A talker. I enjoy punching those type of people.

Spinarak-Man: In that case, this will be a one-on-one battle! The winner will be the one who can actually fight like a Pokémon! Uh, that ain’t you.

Batroc charges forward and swings a kick, Spinarak-Man stopping it easily. Spinarak-Man lifts Batroc up and goes to slam him to the floor. Batroc catches himself with his hands and performs a spin, forcing his leg free from Spinarak-Man and pushes him back.

Spinarak-Man: So I spoke a bit too soon! You fight at the level of a Mankey, simply flailing and moving without care!

Batroc charges again, Spinarak-Man ready. His senses go off as he spins, using both arms to block a dual kick from Batroc and Hitmonlee.

Spinarak-Man: (Strains) Where’d that one come from?!

Ian: Alakazam, Kinesis!

Ian opens a Pokéball, choosing Alakazam.

Alakazam: Ala!

Alakazam holds her spoons up, bending them and releasing psychic waves. Batroc and Hitmonlee lose their equilibrium as Spinarak-Man grabs and tosses them both into the air.

Spinarak-Man: Going, going, and out of here! Spinarak, let’s give them a cushion landing!

Spinarak-Man and Spinarak fire String Shots at the two, when they are severed right down the middle. Batroc and Hitmonlee recover in midair and dive at Spinarak-Man feet first. Spinarak-Man flips back to dodge.

Ian: Alakazam, Psycho Cut!

Spinarak-Man: And Spinarak, trap them with Infestation!

Alakazam fires crescent moon psychic blades as Batroc and Hitmonlee dodge. Spinarak releases black insects that swarm Hitmonlee and trap his feet.

Spinarak-Man: Snug as a rug! Wonder who thought that would be a good saying. Now trap the pirate!

Spinarak prepares another attack when it gasps and blasted off Spinarak-Man’s shoulder. Spinarak-Man looks around to see the source.

Spinarak-Man: What was that? Didn’t even sense it.

Alakazam takes a hit too, dropping to one knee.

Batroc: Blaze Kick.

Hitmonlee’s foot ignites a flame, burning the Infestation away to free himself. He leaps and strikes Alakazam with Blaze Kick, defeating her.

Ian: There’s another foe somewhere! We need--

Batroc trips Ian, him falling to the deck. Batroc lifts his leg and stomps down at him while he opens a Pokéball. Whimsicott comes out and shelters Ian with its cotton body, resisting most of the blow. Spinarak-Man shoots a web and swings up into the air around the deck of the ship.

Spinarak-Man: Someone who’s hidden even to my Spinarak-Senses? This guy is really--

The thread is cut as Spinarak-Man begins to drop. A figure pokes out of the shadows between two sections of the ship.

Spinarak: Spina spina!

Spinarak-Man: Nice work! Hitmonlee leaps into the air, being at level with them.

Spinarak-Man: This is restricted airspace! All unauthorized Pokémon must descend at once!

Hitmonlee swings his leg, but Spinarak-Man puts his hands on it and hurdles over. Spinarak is hit and knocked off Spinarak-Man’s shoulder, him swooping down to catch the defeated Pokémon.

Spinarak-Man: Spinarak! You did a great job, return.

Spinarak-Man returns Spinarak as Batroc kicks Whimsicott out of the way. It floats back and takes another kick to protect Ian, when a force hits it and causes both of them to skid back. A tail sticks out of Whimsicott’s cotton, Ian pulling out a Dreepy.

Dreepy: Dree!

Ian: Who’s that Pokémon?

Dreepy slips free and disappears. Spinarak-Man fires webs that catch Hitmonlee’s feet and trap him. He swings again and heads to the section where the figure was spotted. He lands and finds nothing there.

Spinarak-Man: Nothing! I saw it too!

Something taps Spinarak-Man’s shoulder.

Spinarak-Man: Not now Spinarak. I’m trying to…

Spinarak-Man’s voice drags off as he looks over his shoulder to find Dragapult floating beside him, waving its tail in his face.

Spinarak-Man: Uh, hi.

Dreepy returns and reloads itself onto its head, Spinarak-Man pointing.

Spinarak-Man: So that’s the mystery attack!

Spinarak-Man’s senses go off as he spins, though is caught by Dragapult’s tail. A figure punches Spinarak-Man and he falls back to the level below, crashing into the ground.

Spinarak-Man: Ow.

Hilda: Emboar, use Arm Thrust!

Thundra: Kangaskhan, Comet Punch!

Emboar and Kangaskhan exchange a series of punches, each of them colliding with each other. Razor Leaf attacks hit Kangaskhan on the side, though doesn’t deter it.

Lyra: Come on, Chikorita! We gotta help Hilda here! Fire Razor Leaf again!

Chikorita: Chika!

Thundra: Crunch!

Chikorita fires Razor Leaf again as Kangaskhan leans down and Crunches into Emboar’s arm. Kangaskhan swings Emboar around and swats the Razor Leaf away.

Lyra: Ah! I’m sorry!

Hilda: Don’t be! Emboar, roast it with Flamethrower!

Emboar bathes Kangaskhan in Flamethrower, causing her to put Emboar down.

Hilda: And follow up wit Hammer Arm!

Thundra: Kangaskhan, block with Hammer Arm!

Lyra: There! Chikorita, Vine Whip!

Kangaskhan prepares Hammer Arm as Chikorita extends her vines. They wrap around Kangaskhan’s arms and tug back, slowing her down. Emboar speeds and uppercuts Kangaskhan with Hammer Arm before pummeling her into the ground defeated.

Thundra: No!

Hilda: Dat’s the way, Emboar!

Emboar: Boar!

Thundra: You little brat!

Thundra charges to punch Hilda, when her legs are snared in Vine Whip and she trips. Emboar then goes over and sits on her.

Thundra: Oof!

Togepi wiggles out of Lyra’s arms and goes over, sitting on Thundra’s head.

Togepi: Toge toge!

Hilda: Yee-haw! Dat was some girl power!

Lyra: We did it! Oh that was so awesome!

Harry: Misdreavus, Psybeam!

Misdreavus fires a Psybeam as Muk Flings a piece of sludge to block it.

Trapster: Can’t stop it with Mean Look, pesky Ghost type.

Harry: Now use Confuse Ray! Force it to free Quilava!

Trapster: Acid Armor to Fling!

Misdreavus releases a Confuse Ray as Muk morphs its body to hide its face. It then slips in and grabs Misdreavus, Flinging it to the ground.

Hobie: Houndour, Howl to Bite!

Houndour Howls into the air then charges for Bite.

Klaw: Again! Iron Head!

Perrserker counters with Iron Head, both of them taking heavy damage from it.

Klaw: Then of course Metal BURST!

Perrserker fires Metal Burst, defeating Houndour.

Cheren: Darmanitan, stop!

Darmanitan leaps across the control room, bouncing off walls, floors and panels as it prepares Fire Punch. Oranguru raises a blue Protect barrier that blocks the attack.

Wizard: Now Instruct.

Oranguru’s fan glows white as it waves it, Darmanitan responding. It leaps and repeats the exact same movements as before.

Cheren: It’s an endless loop until--

Wizard: The Future Sight arrives!

Darmanitan goes to punch Oranguru when a Future Sight portal opens and blasts it. Darmanitan crashes into Cheren and they are sent flying out of the room. Cheren looks to both sides and sees Harry and Hobie struggling.

Cheren: Hey! Switch foes! Hobie, take the Wizard with your Dark type!

Hobie: (Returns Houndour) Houndour’s out! But I can handle it!

Klaw: You think I’ll let you get away with that?! Perrserker, hunt him down!

Cheren: Darmanitan, Bulldoze!

Darmanitan punches the ground, bulging and rocking the area. Perrserker is unable to advance as the ground shifts underneath it while Bulldoze erupts on Muk. Muk slides down defeated, as the Mean Look sludge holding Quilava down releases.

Harry: Yes! Quilava, use Flame Wheel on that Perrserker thing! Quilava rolls and strikes Perrserker with Flame Wheel.

Klaw: Don’t let that stop you! Metal Burst!

Perrserker prepares to attack, but then falls over defeated.

Klaw: Worthless!

Hobie makes it into the control room, throwing a Pokéball and choosing Murkrow.

Murkrow: Murkrow!

Wizard: You’re not the brat I was prepared for!

A Future Sight portal opens and attacks Murkrow, it being immune.

Hobie: Too bad! Murkrow, use Pursuit!

Murkrow glows black as it repeatedly rams Oranguru. Oranguru blocks every other one with Protect.

Wizard: Throw something at it with Psychic!

Oranguru launches a chair at Murkrow with Psychic but evades and rams Oranguru. It drops defeated.

Wizard: No. No!

Hobie: You lose! Now, how do we turn off the signal jammer?

Cheren: Allow me.

Cheren opens a Pokéball, choosing Porygon.

Porygon: Pory!

Cheren: Access the system and turn the signal jammer off.

Porygon nods and turns into data. Hobie checks his PokeGear, now being able to call out.

Hobie: Officer Jenny? We’ve been kidnapped by pirates! We’ve retaken the ship!

The figure comes out of the shadows, being a man in a black suit with a white bullseye target on his chest.

Bullseye: The masked crusader. You’re way out of your league here, kid.

Dragapult floats back up to Bullseye, preparing to attack.

Spinarak-Man: News flash, guy. You literally have a target on you! There’s no way I can’t hit you!

Bullseye: We will be arriving in port soon. I suppose we’ll just dump you over the side. Get rid of them.

Dragapult fires Dragon Darts, a Dreepy at Spinarak-Man and another at Ian.

Ian: Whimsicott, Tailwind!

Whimsicott lets loose a Tailwind, stalling Hitmonlee as he goes for Blaze Kick. Batroc stalls from the winds as well. The Tailwind slows the Dreepy shots down, allowing Spinarak-Man to roll and dodge.

Bullseye: A miss?! Dragapult, use Lock-On. Make sure it hits your target!

Dragapult’s eyes glow red as Spinarak-Man becomes the target.

Bullseye: Fire!

Spinarak-Man: Butterfree, Sleep Powder!

Spinarak-Man chooses Butterfree, it releasing a Sleep Powder that rides the Tailwind. Dragapult fires Dragon Darts as the Dreepy fall asleep from the powder. The attack stops as the two are blown away by the winds. Dragapult is hit as well, dropping asleep.

Bullseye: Get up!

Ian: Spinarak-Man! Switch foes! Whimsicott, Fairy Wind!

Whimsicott rides the Tailwind, releasing a Fairy Wind that hits Dragapult. Batroc and Hitmonlee come at them.

Spinarak-Man: Too easy! Butterfree, Confusion then String Shot!

Butterfree catches both foes in Confusion, stopping them. Spinarak-Man and Butterfree then fire repeated String Shot that bury the two underneath.

Batroc: Coward! Come face me like a man!

Spinarak-Man: I fought you the best way I know how. Like a Spinarak-Man!

Whimsicott strikes again with Fairy Wind, the Dreepy defeated. Dragapult wakes up, roaring up at them.

Bullseye: In that case, Phantom Force!

Dragapult disappears through a portal, Whimsicott floating and searching in terror.

Ian: If you can hear me. Searing Shot.

Dragapult re-emerges to attack Whimsicott when it is caught in a fiery explosion. Dragapult crashes into Bullseye as it lies defeated, Bullseye unable to get up.

On the other side of the ship, Victini holds its fingers up still which smoke from the Searing Shot. Zorua Peter and Pichu face pirates using Wingull, Chatot, Corvisquire and Inkay.

Zorua Peter: (Imitating speech)

Pichu’s cheeks spark as it releases Thundershock, defeating the Flying Pokémon. Inkay survives and goes for Tackle, as Victini blasts it with Solar Beam. The pirates run off, as Hilda and Lyra make it to the deck.

Lyra: Peter?! Oh my you made it aboard!

Zorua Peter freaks, chattering to Pichu. Pichu leaps into his arms and electrocutes him, causing him to fall over.

Lyra: Ah! Peter are you okay?

Spinarak-Man wraps Bullseye and Dragapult in webbing, smacking his hands once done.

Spinarak-Man: Thanks for sticking around for me. But it sounds like I gotta split. Give me some cover?

Ian: Understood. Whimsicott, go with him.

Spinarak-Man swings off with Whimsicott following, allowing itself to be blown by the wind. Harry and Hobie arrive as Ian runs over.

Ian: My Whimsicott! It’s trapped in the wind!

Everyone turns around to look at the Whimsicott, as Peter finishes getting out of his suit. Victini spots him and uses Confusion to soundlessly slide him over.

Hobie: I can help! Murkrow, go grab it!

Hobie chooses Murkrow which flies after Whimsicott. Zorua breaks the Illusion as Peter slides directly into her old spot. Murkrow grabs Whimsicott and brings it back down. Lyra turns back as Peter begins to sit up.

Peter: (Groans) Pichu, you’ve gotta stop shocking me.

Pichu: (Grins) Pichu Pichu!

End Scene

The ship is taken into port as the authorities swarm the ship. Wizard, Trapster, Klaw and Thundra are in cuffs and taken away, while all the valuables and Pokémon they had aboard are repossessed.

Jenny: Thanks to your kids’ description, we will be able to return all of these to their proper owners. You did exceptional work.

Peter: Thanks. It was nothing, really.

Ian: The job’s not done. Two of them got away. Batroc and another wearing a Bullseye costume.

Jenny: Batroc is on our most wanted list so we will be keeping an eye out for him. Again, thank you all for your hard work.

Officer Jenny leaves as everyone gathers.

Lyra: So the cruise line offered us a free boat ride out due to what happened before! So we’ll have our transportation needs met!

Harry: Great. We’ll need to be able to get out to the Whirl Islands.

Ian: Whirl Islands, huh? Good times. What about us?

Cheren: I’ve chartered us a seaplane that’ll get us back to Unova. Hopefully we won’t miss it this time.

Hilda: Don’ you worry, Cheren! I’ll handle it all!

Cheren: That’s what I’m worried about.

Peter: Thank you for your help, Ian. Before you go, can we have a quick battle? I wanna see how I stand up to you.

Ian: I accept.

Ian and Peter take their positions.

Peter: Go Spinarak!

Spinarak hops off Peter’s shoulders, going onto the field.

Ian: Whimsicott!

Ian throws a Pokéball, choosing Whimsicott.

Whimsicott: Whims!

Ian: Our first battle together. Let’s make it good.

Peter: Spinarak, use Poison Sting!

Ian: Tailwind!

Spinarak spews Poison Sting but a Tailwind blows them all away. Whimsicott rides it in front of Spinarak.

Ian: Fairy Wind!

Whimsicott hits Spinarak with Fairy Wind, blowing it into the sky.

Peter: Infestation!

Ian: Cotton Spore!

Spinarak releases a wave of Infestation which Whimsicott blocks with Cotton Spore. It then floats on the wind and releases another Fairy Wind, defeating Spinarak.

Peter: Whoa. No chance at all.

Ian: You’ll get there. I’ve been on a journey much longer than you.

Lyra: We’ll all have to meet up again! This was so much fun!

Harry: Once we got our Pokémon back, she means.

Ian: I look forward to it.

Ian’s Xtransceiver rings, him walking off to answer it.

Ian: Hey Nia.

Nia: Hey? HEY?! You don’t get to say that to me! You were scheduled to be in Virbank City a week ago! Where are you?!

Ian: Took a detour. Let them know we’ll be there in a few days.

Nia: That is an unacceptable answer! You’re just lucky that this thing is not time sensitive!

Ian: Listen, I need you to get me a phone number.

Nia: Do it yourself! I’m not your secretary!

Ian: But you are my event coordinator. And I need to get in contact with the champion of Kanto.

In a dark room, Bullseye and Batroc stand before a figure obscured in shadows.

Figure: You mean to tell me that our smuggling ship was commandeered by the police because you let some kids beat you?

Batroc: This was no ordinary kid! He had the strength of a Pokémon, able to take my kicks!

Bullseye: He’s Spinarak-Man. The small time hero who’s been in the news. Though his ability is anything but small, Mr. Fisk.

The figure leans forward, revealing his large figure and bald head.

Mr. Fisk: Then we’ll have to handle him appropriately.

Trivia[]

  • This is my fourth crossover with M3.
    • It is also the first time that Ian and Peter have met in the real world.
  • This episode takes place prior to the events of Crisis Across the Multiverse.
  • The first part of the episode is designed to be like The Legend of Spinarak-Man.
  • The Pirates were chosen based off various Marvel villains.
    • The Frightful Four were chosen based off their appearance in the show Ultimate Spider-Man.
    • Batroc the Leaper, while featured in Ultimate Spider-Man, is based off the pirate that appeared in the movie Captain America: The Winter Soldier. This version showed off how dangerous he is, especially in close combat.
    • Bullseye was chosen to tie into Kingpin at the end. This is to set up future storylines for crossovers with the Kingpin having a more active role.
      • Pokemon for them was chosen based off their core powers.
  • The Mormont Trading Company, the flag that the pirates fly, is the flag for the company owned by Elise’s Father. This detail will be taken into more detail later.
  • The baby Pokémon were featured to give the heroes a strong motivation to go over to the pirate ship.
  • Ian, Cheren and Hilda being locked in the brig for a week is due to Unova being considerably far away from Johto, making it the only plausible way on how they hadn’t taken the ship prior. Victini was waiting for an appropriate opportunity.
  • Thundra battling Hilda and Lyra is based off the typical battle between women warriors associated in many media.
  • Cheren, Harry and Hobie swapping foes is based off the trend on how changing foes makes a battle easier.
  • Batroc is one of the few people in the PT franchise who has shown the ability to fight equally with a Pokémon. He was chosen due to this and fighting Spinarak-Man in a world where he’s not used to fighting a human.
  • Bullseye has Dragapult as when I was researching, I searched for a Pokémon with Lock-On to use as he never misses. This led to Dragapult, where it fires Dreepy for darts.
  • Spinarak-Man is shown not to be able to detect Ghost types in this episode.
  • This episode features Whimsicott’s first battle alongside Ian. This crossover put its debut battle earlier than planned.
