Queen Chrysalis is a major antagonist of the Pokémon Eclipse crossover-fanfiction written by moviemaster8510, and is a character originally featured in the cartoon My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

Formerly the ruler of the shape-shifting changelings, she harbors an intense hatred toward Equestria and the creatures that live in it. This grudge prompts her to join Team Prism after being found by them after she is displaced from Equestria during her plot to seize the land in the wake of the disapearrance of Twilight Sparkle and her friends.

Design[]

Appearance[]

In her original form, Chrysalis resembles a tall, lanky black equine being with a insectoid appearance, including thin wings full of holes and her body being covered in a hard, smooth shell. Her hooves are also covered in holes that tunnel from one side to the other. Her horn is also long and very jagged, and her turquoise mane resembles wet seaweed.

Upon her reformation after being saved by Twilight Sparkle and making peace with her sister Queen Cocoon, her body turns fuzzy and becomes a cream color. The holes in her hooves, wings, and mane are also mended, the mane turning turquoise-green at the base and fading into lime-green at the tips. Her wings are purple and resemble those of a dragonfly. She also possesses a large tuft of longer orange fur on her chest.

Personality[]

Despite requiring love for sustenance, Chrysalis is ironically cruel, spiteful, and angry. She is so driven by her hatred toward her enemies that she ultimately joins Team Prism despite the fate that they plan for her world. Those that she feels worthy of trusting, however, she is very loyal and respectful to, especially the Pokémon she receives from Faba prior to their journey to Poni Island. It is in fact the care that Chrysalis gives to her Pokémon that convinces Twilight to save her after she is injured in the Aether Paradise due to Lillie's Nidoqueen's Earthquake attack.

Biography[]

Pokémon Eclipse[]

Ula'ula Arc[]

Shortly after the disappearance of Twilight Sparkle and her friends due to the meltdown of legendary Pokémon Solgaleo and Lunala, Chrysalis realizes that Equestria is left without its strongest means defense (though she does not know Twilight and her friends' whereabouts). Chrysalis goes to her estranged sister, Queen Cocoon, and enlists her and her hive to help her in conquering Equestria once and for all. At one point, during the nationwide search for Twilight and her friends, Chrysalis disguises herself as a guard of the Crystal Empire, as well as the escort of the Crystal Empire's king and Twilight's brother, Shining Armor.

Together, Shining Armor and a still-disguised Chrysalis meet with Equestrian rulers Princess Celestia and Princess Luna, along with nigh-omnipotent draconequus Discord, unicorn Trixie, and the current ruler of Chrysalis's former hive, Thorax, in Ponyville, hoping to learn more about where Twilight and her friends have ended up. As they examine the inside of Twilight's castle, the Cutie Map, a highly-magical map of Equestria and the lands surrounding it, seems to activate on its own, unveiling Twilight, her friends, and the humans they befriended inside the Aether Paradise as Solgaleo and Lunala project its interior inside Twilight's castle and vice-versa. Solgaleo and Lunala soon stop maintaining the projection and melt down once again, creating a wormhole on the Cutie Map that threatens to pull everyone inside. The psychic energy of the wormhole begins weakening Chrysalis's disguise, betraying herself in front of Shining Armor. Before he fully realizes this, Chrysalis grabs him and throws herself into the wormhole with him.

Chrysalis wakes up later inside the Haina Desert along with a still-unconscious Shining Armor and Discord, the latter of whom followed after them into the wormhole. She is then discovered by a small group of Team Prism grunts along with the Prism leader, who prepares to place a collar-like device around her neck. Chrysalis pleads for them to put the collar on Discord instead, surmising that the device will be better used on an objectively more-powerful creature like him. Intrigued, the Prism leader learns more about Chrysalis, including her grudge against Twilight and her friends along with her failed past attempts at conquering Equestria. The Prism leader offers to let Chrysalis join Team Prism, promising to allow her to exact revenge on Twilight and her friends at long last. After Chrysalis accepts, the Prism leader uses their psychic abilities to restore the magic she lost due to her exposure to the wormhole.

After Discord and Shining Armor wake up, Chrysalis informs them both of her latest and current attempt to conquer Equestria, informing them that even though she has been removed from her world, someone still in Equestria will continue her plans in her stead. Before Team Prism can take Shining Armor and Discord captive as well, Tapu Bulu, the island guardian Pokémon of Ula'ula Island attacks them. Shortly after, a group of ponies and Pokémon trainers, consisting of unicorn Starlight Glimmer, earth ponies Applejack and Pinkie Pie, unicorn Rarity, Ula'ula Island Kahuna Nanu, and Pokémon League trainers Acerola and Guzma arrive and join in the battle. As the trainers battle the Prism leader and their Pokémon, Starlight manages to distract Chrysalis long enough for her Sylveon, Lady, to break the collar device off of Discord and flee the desert with him, Shining Armor, and the others in tow. Before Chrysalis and Team Prism can chase after them, a massive horde of Pokémon commanded by Tapu Bulu surrounds them, forcing them to flee.

Later, after Team Prism admin Faba is apprehended and imprisoned by Nanu following a failed attempt to attack Starlight's group, including trainers Sam and Alice Brier, on Mount Lanakila, the Prism Leader and Chrysalis, now wearing a device that both nullifies the effects of Psychic-type attacks used against her as well as converts her magic into psychic energy, attack the police compound Faba is being held in to free him. Though Nanu and Aether field agent Gladion attempt to stand up to them, Chrysalis and the Prism leader ultimately overpower them, allowing them to escape with Nanu.

Later that morning, a large Team Prism horde, led by the Prism leader, Chrysalis, and Faba, attack a bus containing Sam, Alice, Starlight, Applejack, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, Shining Armor, and Discord as it makes its way to the summit of Mount Hokulani to reunite altogether with the remaining Equestrians. Sam, Alice, and the others manage to hold Team Prism off for just long enough for the arrival of the other Equestrians, consisting of Twilight, the dragon Spike, the pegasi Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash, and the recently displaced Princess Luna, Trixie, and Thorax, who are accompanied by Aether Foundation co-assistant Branch Chiefs Sun and Lillie, her brother Gladion, and Melemele Island Kahuna Hau.

The Prism leader separates Sam and Alice to battle them alone, leaving Chrysalis, Faba, and the over-dozen grunts to attack the others. In the scuffle, Chrysalis manages to grab a hold on Twilight and Rainbow Dash, the former unable to fight back due to Chrysalis's psychic-covered magic. Shining Armor, however, is able to break the device off of her horn, making her relinquish her hold on her captives. Starlight and Lady then arrive and attack Chrysalis with Psyshock, effectively nullifying Chrysalis of her magic. Team Prism loses the battle, though the Prism Leader and Faba's Alakazam manage to teleport their allies away.

Later that night, Chrysalis accompanies Faba and Prism admin Dexio to the Abandoned Thrifty Megamart where Sam, Alice, Starlight, and Fluttershy are. With them are Nanu, who Dexio defeated in battle, and Professor Burnet, the head scientist at the Interdimensional Research Lab in Heahea City on Akala Island who was kidnapped by Team Prism the previous night. After Faba fails to negotiate a trade of Starlight and Fluttershy for Burnet, he and Chrysalis lure Sam, Starlight, and Fluttershy into the Abandoned Thrifty Megamart while Alice battles Dexio alone. Chrysalis manages to separate Sam from the two ponies and fights him herself. Sam is left with only his Doublade and a newly-acquired Absol following his Grand Trial battle with Nanu just moments before, though with their help, Sam is able to break Chrysalis's new psychic-converter ring and nullify her magic. Faba is likewise defeated by Starlight and Fluttershy with Lady and Fluttershy's Comfey's help. Faba and Chrysalis come together and teleport away.

After Burnet successfully captures Solgaleo and Lunala reveals herself to be the leader of Team Prism under the willing influence of the ancient and evil Pokémon Necrozma, she manages to restrain Sam, Alice, Sun, Lillie, Gladion, Hau, and Dexio (revealed to be a spy acting on Sun's behalf), though the Equestrians all managed to escape. Sam, Alice, Sun, Lillie, Gladion, and Dexio are put on a helicopter piloted by Faba and Chrysalis as they, along with two other helicopters containing Burnet, Hau, and a couple dozen Prism Grunts, fly to the Altar of the Sunne on Poni Island.

Poni Arc[]

Upon reaching the Seafolk Village on Poni Island, the three helicopters piloted by Team Prism are attacked by a horde of wild Pokémon commanded by the island's guardian Pokémon, Tapu Fini. The helicopters are forced to crash-land on the water, Burnet, Chrysalis, Faba, and the grunts evacuating and attacking the wild Pokémon. Faba and Chrysalis in particular face off against Poni Island Kahuna Hapu and Trial Captain Mina, Chrysalis now possessing her own Pokémon team courtesy of Faba, among which are a Mawile and a Hydreigon. Once freed from their bonds inside the sinking helicopter, Lillie and Gladion join Hapu and Mina to take Faba and Chrysalis out once more.

Once the grunts are defeated, the trainers focus their efforts on Burnet, but with the powers of Solgaleo and Lunala within her, she transfers them into her own Pokémon, making them incredibly strong and virtually indestructible. Sun leads the others into a combined Z-Move attack that produces a large, blinding flash, intending to use it to escape under its distraction, though Sam is captured by Burnet and Alice and Dexio opt to stay behind to be with him. Burnet travels with her three prisoners toward the Altar of the Sunne on foot, giving temporary control of Team Prism to Faba while making Chrysalis second-in-command. Together, Faba, Chrysalis, and the grunts board an Aether Foundation yacht and follow Sun, Lillie, Gladion, Twilight, and Spike to the Aether Paradise.

Upon their arrival, Faba attempts to contact Wicke, the Aether Foundation Branch Chief who is actually acting as a spy for Team Prism, wanting to ensure the success of her plan to sink the Aether Paradise and destroy the server containing the Master Ball and Ultra Beasts so that Sun and his friends cannot use them against Team Prism. When she fails to reply (unaware that she was killed when she failed to escape the blasts of the bombs she planted), Faba assumes she defected and sends out a horde of Bruxishes and Kadabras to create a massive wall of water surrounding the Aether Paradise while a smaller horde of Metangs keeps watch over the open top. Inside, Twilight plots to disrupt the wall of water using the Ultra Beasts and create a larger opening through which to escape, but when Faba recognizes one of the Ultra Beasts behind the water, he sends out half of the present grunts to attack Sun and his friends inside while he battles Rainbow Dash and Spike, who are in control of the Ultra Beasts. When Faba and the grunts fail to stop Sun and his friends, they attempt to escape, only for Chrysalis and the remaining grunts to block their way and force them back into the Aether Paradise.

Faba, Chrysalis, and the grunts surround Sun and his friends and begin attacking them all at once. Thoughout the battle, Chrysalis's Pokémon are defeated one by one, Twilight observing the way she catches them in her magic to prevent them from further injury. Finally, Lillie sends out her Nidoqueen, and with her friends and Pokémon covering it, it manages to create a devastating Earthquake attack that cuts a massive fissure down the length of the Aether Paradise which Chrysalis barely saves her Gourgeist from falling down into. With the building taking in water much faster than before, Faba and Chrysalis are forced to evacuate the grunts and themselves, giving Sun and his friends an opportunity to flee. Twilight then watches as a large piece of the glass ceiling breaks off and strikes Chrysalis in the head, knocking her unconscious.

Having seen the way she saved her Pokémon, sensing some good in her, Twilight dives back in to save her. Upon coming to, Chrysalis is confused, yet ultimately grateful, by Twilight's rescue. Faba, who still remains, sends out his Slowbro to attack and suppress Twilight with its Psychic abilities. Angered with Faba's cruelty and prioritizing his revenge over his and his Pokémons' safety, Chrysalis sends out her Hydreigon, which attacks both Faba and his Slowbro with Brutal Swing. After retreiving Faba's Pokémon, Chrysalis flies out from the Aether Paradise with Hydreigon carrying a weakened Twilight. Soon after, a jet possessed by a Rotom that had possessed Sun's Pokédex from his own trainer days arrives and lets Chrysalis and Sun and his friends in. Inside, they watch as the water wall, the Pokémon maintaining it no longer able to, crashes onto the Aether Paradise with Faba still inside it, submerging it once and for all.

Chrysalis speaks with Sun, Twilight, Rainbow Dash, and Spike, explaining her decision to defect from Team Prism. She says that she joined Team Prism in the first place to get back at her own world, but began to learn empathy when she was given her own Pokémon who all loved her unconditionally, making her realize the errors of her ways. She apologizes to Twilight, Rainbow Dash, and Spike for her past discretions and states her intentions to do the same to the others. Twilight and the others forgive her, ultimately excited to have Chrysalis as an ally. At Ten Karat Hill on Melemele Island, a powerful attack ravages the place, which Sun and the others are able to see from the jet, prompting Rotomjet to fly straight there.

Upon reaching Ten Karat Hill, Sun and his friends exit the jet to tend to their injured friends who were caught in the attack. While Sun and Twilight rush into the caves to stop Burnet before she can return Necrozma's powers to its buried body, Rainbow Dash begins to load everyone into Rotomjet should they need to leave if they cannot stop Burnet in time. The others are shocked and frightened to see Chrysalis inside, but before Gladion can explain the situation, Sam, Alice, Dexio, and several Equestrians teleport inside the crater from Equestria, among whom is Queen Cocoon, who appears to have reformed and taken on a less hideous appearance. Chrysalis leaves the jet to speak with Cocoon. Cocoon tries to reason with Chrysalis, unaware of her change of heart, but Chrysalis assures her that she has learned to love and be loved and has full intention of fighting on her side. After embracing, Chrysalis also goes through a similar reformation and transformation, bearing a similar appearance to her sister. After making amends with the other Equestrians who she's hurt, everyone begins getting into Rotomjet.

Sun and Twilight, who were also joined by Sam, Alice, and unicorn Fizzlepop Berrytwist, are unable to stop Burnet from returning Necrozma's power to its body, forcing them to flee while leaving a weakened Burnet and her husband and Pokémon professor, Kukui, to perish in the exertion of Necrozma's energy upon the completion of its restoration. Sun and the others barely manage to board Rotomjet before Necrozma's awakening demolishes Ten Karat Hill, and it flies off to the nearby Hau'oli City to warn the people there.

Alola Arc[]

Upon landing in Hau'oli City, everyone splits off in groups to warn the citizens to take shelter inside, Chrysalis going with Cocoon, Trixie, and Thorax taking the eastern edge of the city. After Necrozma transforms the Prism Grunts into human/Pokémon hybrids, it sends the ones on the Aether Foundation yacht to Hau'oli city, making it crash into the street and separating Sam and Alice from Hapu, Mina, and Kaj, a trainer/Pokémon coordinator who Sam and Alice had befriended earlier. Chrysalis and her group joins with Hapu, Mina, and Kaj, who face off against a few of the newly-arrived grunts along with Dexio, who was also fused into a chimeric hybrid of himself and his five Pokémon. Chrysalis battles well with her new allies, but she is assaulted by the Dexio hybrid, who forcefully reads her memories which are then fed back to Necrozma. It then uses her memories, along with the memories of several other Equestrians, to open portals from the Pokémon world to Equestria to allow the hybrids to enter and attack.

Later, wild Pokémon commanded by Lillie and Gladion's father, Mohn, help Chrysalis and her group attack the Dexio hybrid. This shift in power compels Necrozma to join in the battle, reorganizing its grunts to box in the other trainers and Equestrians on the north and south sides of the city. During the battle, Chrysalis notices her sister, who is in possession of a powerful magical artifact called the Alicorn Amulet, beginning to tire out as she uses its nearly-depleted magic to try and combat Necrozma and its grunts' numerous psychic attacks. Cocoon refuses to give Chrysalis the amulet, and after Necrozma splits up into three other forms, its base form attacks Cocoon with a Prismatic Laser attack. Cocoon uses the last of the amulet's power, as well as her own strength, to protect Chrysalis and several other Equestrians from the attack, causing her to perish. Chrysalis, enraged over the loss of her sister, takes Cocoon's place and begins fighting Necrozma along with other trainers.

At one point, Nanu sacrifices himself to save Guzma and Spike from a Moongeist Beam attack by Dawn-Wings Necrozma (Lunala corrupted bu Necrozma's influence). Tapu Bulu shortly grants Guzma the role of Kahuna, prompting Necrozma and its other two forms to attack him and the other gathered Kahunas. Chrysalis and the other trainers and Equestrians and their Pokémon block their attacks, giving the Kahunas enough time to activate their Z-Power with the island guardian Pokémon to awaken the Tapu Hydra, which, with assistance from the other trainers, is able to defeat Necrozma, which allows Sun to capture it, ending its reign of terror once and for all.

At the hospital, Chrysalis sits with Starlight, Fluttershy, and Trixie in Thorax's room, where he is recuperating from an attack Necrozma hit him with. Chrysalis tearfully mourns the loss of her sister, blaming herself and her ambition of conquering Equestria for her death. Thorax refutes this, saying that her and Cocoon's involvement attempted takeover resulted in them joining and winning the battle against Necrozma, who would have attacked their worlds with or without their alliance. He then further comforts her by offering to have her return to his hive to rule as queen once again, certain that her newer, kinder nature will allow her to be welcomed back wholeheartedly. Sam also comforts her, Chrysalis both apologizing for the pain she caused him and Alice and thanking them for helping reform her sister. She later goes up to a gymnasium where she is reunited with her healed Pokémon.

After helping the humans repair the towns and cities from both worlds affected by the battle against Necrozma, a jointed funeral service is held for both Nanu and Cocoon, which Chrysalis speaks at. She, along with Acerola, conclude the service by lighting their respective loved-ones' pyres. The following morning, after a party allowing the Equestrians to say their final farewells to their human friends, Celestia and Luna return back to their world with all the Equestrians in tow.

Several weeks later, Sam and Alice finally conclude their Island Trials and challenge the Pokémon League, defeating the four trainers there before reaching the throne room of the champion. Sun, Lillie, and Gladion, who have reshaped the Aether Foundation into EarthQuestria with help from the Mossdeep Space Center in the Hoenn region and Equestria, meet Sam and Alice up there and take them, along with the Kahunas, Trial Captains, and Kaj, to Equestria using a special teleportation built into the floor of the arena. There, the trainers reunite with their Equestrian friends before getting invited to the royal palace at Canterlot, where a stained glass mural depicting the trainers and Equestrians, Chrysalis among them, battling against Necrozma is unveiled. Chrysalis then joins her friends at an ancient jousting area to watch the Pokémon battle between Sam and Alice as they vie for the Alola championship. Though Chrysalis cheers for Sam to win, it is Alice who comes out the victor, becoming the new champion of Alola in the process.
