Frisk is a Gastly owned by Emerald. It is the fifth Pokémon owned by Emerald, having belonged to Koga before being released.
Personality & Characteristics[]
Gastly is a very silly and mischievious Pokémon with a tendency to play pranks on people. It was nicknamed for its energetic and playful personality, being frisky.
Gastly does not appear to hold grudges, as in Time Heals and Finding the Ninja Way, it appears with determination however does not show disliking of Koga.
To Be a Master: Indigo League[]
Prior to series[]
Not many details of Gastly's history are known.
Gastly belonged to Koga of the Fuchsia Gym. Koga was on a trip to find a ghost type, and found Gastly. At some point, Gastly was released due to being a "burden" and "curse," and so remained in Pokémon Tower. It liked to play pranks on people who visited Pokémon Tower.
With Emerald[]
Gastly debuted in Time Heals, messing around with Emerald briefly. It disappeared and reappeared every once in a while, usually to help out against Team Rocket. Emerald used Gastly alongside Wartortle and Gary's Machop to defeat Harry's Muk. Emerald then completed his "ascension" of Pokémon Tower with Gastly, where they find Koga and Mr. Fuji. Gastly briefly fights Koga's Venomoth, but is overpowered. Koga then leaves, leaving Emerald and Gastly with Mr. Fuji. Emerald nicknames Gastly Frisk, after a story his mother told him.
It cameos in Blaze of Honor, Frisk scares Khoury's Cubone.
In Winner Takes All, Frisk is chosen to battle a horde of wild Pokémon. Wartortle is paired with Frisk to knock them out.
In Finding the Ninja Way, Frisk is chosen to battle Koga's Arbok. Due to its poison typing, Frisk did not struggle with being poisoned like many of Emerald's other Pokémon. It defeated Arbok with Shadow Ball.
In Corner Royale, Frisk is used to battle a Team Rocket grunt guarding the Team Rocket Hideout alongside Beedrill.
It cameos in Blind Fury, playing with Emerald.
In Psychic Readings, Frisk battles against Leaf's Slowpoke. It knocks Slowpoke out with a newly revealed Hypnosis attack. Later in the episode, it helps Emerald resist against Mr. Psychic's aura abilities.
