Beedrill is a Pokémon owned by Emerald. It is his first Pokémon overall and his partner Pokémon, being seen outside of its Pokéball on most occasions.
Personality & Characteristics[]
Beedrill is very loyal to its trainer, Emerald, being a generally friendly Pokémon. It acts as a guardian to Emerald and other allies, being very protective of them. As a result, it is not initially trusting of other trainers and Pokémon, although it is easy to become friends with. This is best seen with Leaf who Beedrill is protective of.
Beedrill is shown to dislike when Pokémon are disobedient towards Emerald, seen in Fight for Honor. This is due to Beedrill being protective of Emerald. However, as seen in Winner Takes All, Beedrill can be assertive when Emerald is taking things too far, going as far as disobeying him to convey a message.
Beedrill, similar to Emerald, is fond of battling. It always tries its best, and although it struggles with losses, it always pushes to do better.
It primarily communicates through movement that Emerald seems to understand. Beedrill often moves its antennae or wings to do so.
To Be a Master: Indigo League[]
Beedrill debuted in Made for Defeat along with Emerald, first being seen on the S.S. Anne. It battled Gary's Spearow in its first battle, losing to it. It later battled against Lt. Surge’s Raichu, however it was overpowered and lost.
In Made for Victory, Beedrill battled against a wild Nidoran♀ that Gary would later capture. It battles against it, losing.
In Perfect Love, Beedrill battled against AJ's Sandshrew. It lost, however it managed to utilize Agility. Mr. Bonji of the Pokémon Fan Club was impressed with it, offering Emerald an invitation to his cabin. Beedrill was later used to battle against Damian and Ken, clearing the dust in the battlefield before fainting to Charmander.
Beedrill appears in the crossover Crisis Across the Multiverse (set between the events of Perfect Love and Surge of Power), battling against Dawn and Dusk's Piplup and Turtwig respectively, under the influence of Will. Beedrill relies on Rage to overpower the two, before it is used against itself to free Logostotle. When freed, it attacks Will's Cresselia, utilizing other attacks. It, along with Charmander, frees everyone from the ice.
Beedrill later appears within the crossover, along with everyone else's Pokémon, assisting them throughout the fight. Beedrill transforms into Mega Beedrill briefly, when everyone's Pokémon utilizes Mega Evolution, Z-Moves, and Dynamax / Gigantamaxing.
In Wanted!, Beedrill battles against Ken's Electabuzz, losing horribly. It battles Electabuzz again later on, losing again. Beedrill is sent back to its Pokéball by Leaf.
Beedrill is in its Pokéball for most of Surge of Power, due to resting from the events of Wanted!. It battles against Lt. Surge's Raichu, winning, due to utilizing its speed and using Raichu's power against itself. Beedrill improvises the move Drill Run, however it is imperfect.
In Fight for Honor, Beedrill battles Gary's Machop, defeating it with a flurry of Rage attacks. This would exhaust Beedrill, allowing for Gary's Nidorina to knock it out.
In Time Heals, Emerald battles Johan's Drowzee with Beedrill. Beedrill loses. Beedrill is within Emerald's Pokéball most of the episode, due to Emerald sneaking around for a little bit. It later cameos at the end of the episode.
In Blaze of Honor, Beedrill helps Charmander spar. When Charmander is frozen, it helps Emerald try to recover her.
In Winner Takes All, Beedrill is chosen to fight a horde of wild Pokémon, however Beedrill disobeys him. It and Luma fight against a pack of Persian. Beedrill commands Luma throughout the battle, the two working together to utilize Luma's Thunder Punch to create a shockwave that knocks out most of the Persian. Most of the Persian are knocked out, however the leader Persian knocks them out.
In Sport of the Hunt, Beedrill is briefly seen. It's sad to be sent to Professor Oak's ranch.
In Finding the Ninja Way, Beedrill is used to traverse the Fuchsia Gym's traps. It is seen improving Drill Run, however it hasn't yet mastered it.
In Corner Royale, Beedrill is used to battle a Team Rocket grunt guarding the Team Rocket Hideout alongside Frisk. It's later used to battle Gold's Cloyster, mastering Drill Run although still losing despite that.
In Building Character, Beedrill takes a more relaxed role. It mostly supports Emerald during the P1 Grand Prix.
In Psychic Readings, Beedrill is seen around Emerald. Later in the episode, it helps Emerald resist against Mr. Psychic's aura abilities.

- Beedrill is Emerald's signature Pokémon.
- Beedrill wasn't planned to be until Dioga beta suggested it.
- It was chosen as Emerald's signature Pokémon due to being Giovanni's starter Pokémon in the Adventures manga, allowing for a parallel between Emerald and Giovanni.
