Declan Perez is the main character of To Be The Best
Appearance[]
Declan is a fifteen year old male of an average build. He has tanned skin, dark brown hair, and bright blue eyes.
While his outfits occasionally vary, he usually wears a black t-shirt with a red pokeball logo, black jeans, and red tennis shoes.
History[]
Declan is a pokemon trainer who is currently travelling though Kanto. He began with his starter pokemon, Pikachu, and has since won two badges. He was severely injured by a burn at the beginning of his journey, but it has since healed.
Character[]
Declan has been shown to behave very similarly to Ash from the anime. He is very reckless and impulsive, but also kind and caring. He's also very close to his Pikachu, being able to have "conversations" with him. However, he is shown to be a far better battler, being able to come up with effective strategies very quickly.
Declan has been shown to have a few weaknesses when it comes to pokemon training, most notably of which is not knowing his own pokemon's limits. He's also shown difficulty controlling some pokemon, most notably his Charmander and Bulbsaur.
Declan is also speculated to have some degree of aura control. This was first theorized after his vision in Taken By Storm, but highlighted again after he is seen manipulated aura into spells in To Stop A Scam. Whether or not the latter was his own ability or the work of Riolu is unconfirmed.
He currently suffers from a sort of anxiety/depression, as revealed in Old Scars.
