Pokémon Tales: Dawn[]

In Vs. Spheal, Spheal investigates a hole in the ceiling of the cave, leading it to meet Dawn and the group. Spheal is friendly towards them and leads them to a room with a lake where its friends are at. It shows off its skills at being balanced, Dawn doing the same using Buneary. Dawn then requests a battle with Spheal so she can catch it. Spheal overwhelms Buneary with Ice Ball, until Buneary uses Ice Beam to freeze it so big that Spheal can't move. Buneary isn't able to hit Spheal with any attacks through the Ice Ball, so Dawn throws a Pokéball. Spheal breaks out, but is defeated afterwards and caught. Spheal says goodbye to its friends as it leads the group out of the caves.

In Vs. Glaceon, Spheal leads the group back through its home cave to the Ice Rock, allowing Zoey's Eevee to evolve into Glaceon. It then has a battle with Glaceon, revealing its Thick Fat ability. The battle ends in a draw.

In Vs. Carnivine, Spheal watches the Chocovine Contest with the others in the stand, to get a sense of what contests are.

In Vs. Stantler and Machamp, Spheal and Buneary perform together in a double performance. The two do very well, taking first in the appeal round and ensuring Dawn moves onto the second round.

In Vs. Sealeo, Spheal is chosen to train against Ian's Cyndaquil. At first, Cyndaquil has the advantage. The two both evolve into Sealeo and Quilava, respectively. Dawn is shocked by the drastic change in appearance, showing disgust. Sealeo is greatly hurt by this, crying and learning Surf to run away. It hides in a river, when Dawn finds it and apologizes. Sealeo forgives her, as it continues its battle with Quilava. It uses an Encore and Surf combo, winning the match.

In Vs. Gabite and Vaporeon, Sealeo teamed up with Ambipom in the Grand Festival to battle Ursula's Gabite and Vaporeon. Despite Sealeo's type advantage to Gabite, it mostly battled Vaporeon, resisting its tactics. Sealeo lands hits on both, and eventually hits Vaporeon with Encore. This allows Ambipom and Sealeo to work together to defeat it. Sealeo then uses Surf to wash away Gabite and her Sandstorm, reducing Ursula's points to zero. This allowed them to move onto the next round.

Sealeo makes cameo apperances in Collision with the Enemy and Vs. Electivire and Steelix.

Pokémon Tales: Silver[]

In Vs. Raticate, it is revealed that Dawn left Sealeo with Professor Rowan.

Pokémon Tales: Champion[]

In Fire and Water at the World Tournament, it's revealed that Sealeo has evolved into Walrein. It battles and is defeated by Benga's Garchomp.

In One Rapidash Sleigh, Walrein assists Dawn in a snowball fight. It later helps Silver's Cloyster and Dakota's Cola the Beartic in holding off Glastrier. It enjoys the snow and surfing until it's defeated.

Pokémon Tales: Rainbow Rocket[]

In Vs. Type: Null, Walrein assists in fighting and freezing several guards.

In Vs. Marowak and Roselia, Walrein teamed up with Silver's Hariyama to battle Cobalt's Persian and Domino's Archeops. Walrein acted as support by using Surf to help Hariyama move across the field and intercepted Archeops' attacks. After using Swagger on Archeops, its Rock Slide defeated Walrein and Archeops in a double knockout.

Pokémon Tales: Extra[]

In Crafting a Destined Past, Walrein fended off a Sandy Shocks.
